The Town’s original community center is a multi-use room on the second floor of the Alta Post Office building, which is located at 10361 East, Highway 210, Alta Utah, 84092. Access the community center through the post office door, and climbing the stairs to the left of the door. Town council meetings, planning commission meetings, the Alta Justice Court and various other meetings are held in this space. The ACE office and historical society exhibit share this room as well.

If you would like to utilize this space, please contact the Town Clerk to make arrangements. There is a $150/day fee.

The Alta Contract Post Office is located on State Highway 210 in the center of town.

The Alta Post Office is a contract post office and only accepts cash or check. For more information, call the post office at (801) 742-2142.

Services: sale of stamps, money orders, postage for packages up to 70 pounds, certified and insured mail.

Mail is sent down-canyon at approximately 11:00 AM daily.

Our Lady of the Snows

Our Lady of the Snows is the ideal, intimate mountain venue for your upcoming meeting, event, wedding, or other personal gathering. Centrally located in the town of Alta, Utah, home of the world-famous powder snow at Alta Ski Area, OLS offers breathtaking views of the ski area and surrounding mountain ranges, while providing the perfect backdrop for any occasion. 

The venue’s main room is 35’ x 35’, with 2 ADA restrooms. The building is ADA accessible in the summer and fall seasons. Available from 8 AM until midnight on event rental day. 

All rental includes access to 10 6-foot tables (tablecloths needed), 125 chairs, internet, and a small kitchenette which includes a sink. 

Additional rentals for purchase include speakers, microphone, projector, screen, blackout blinds.

Reading Room


Located in the Community Center above the Alta Post Office, the Alta Reading Room opened in September of 1981 as a branch of the Salt Lake County Library System. Visitors can use the space to access free high-speed Wi-Fi on personal devices, as a quiet place to work or study, or as a community gathering spot for book clubs, educational events, support groups, and more.

Get a Library Card

Alta residents and employees living in Alta can apply for a Salt Lake County library card to enjoy access to the Salt Lake County Library system including the Digital Library (eBooks and eAudiobooks).  If you don't already have a library card, you can fill out the application online.  Please be aware you will need to visit a SL County library to prove your identity in person and then have access to books and electronic resources.  

Library at Your Door

Alta residents are also eligible to participate in the Library at Your Door program to have library materials mailed directly to your Alta PO Box! This is a free service offered by the Salt Lake County library to anyone living in Alta that prefer physical books over electronic ones.  If you have questions about the program you can reach out to libraryatyourdoor@slcolibrary.org or the Alta, Town Clerk

Feasibility Study

In summer 2020, the Town of Alta hired Ennead Architects to conduct a feasibility study on the construction of a new community center facility.
